Apex HS Has Most Successful
Season
January 4, 2008 - As a new client, the Apex HS Marching
Band from Apex, NC had its most successful season to date
winning over 27 awards spanning 5 competitions. Band Director
Paul Rowe praised Jerry Kelsey for a "state of the art"
show concept and effective arrangement of their program
"Arlington, Where Valor Proudly Sleeps."
Paul Rowe stated. "Having known Jerry Kelsey when
I was a member of the "Suncoast Sound Drum and Bugle
Corps" and
has a member/Leader of "Walt Disney World's" Future
Corps, Jerry continues to stand out has one of the country’s
innovative music arrangers and is versatile in all facets
of the marching band/drum corps design process. Jerry’s
vast years of experience combined with his artistic mastery
in musical arranging will help to create a musical show
concept that is “State of the Art”.
His ability
to showcase your group with harmonic and melodic texturing,
along with woodwind/brass/percussion features, can produce
maximum Music Effect moments that are truly the highlight
of your show. Because if Jerry’s arrangements
and Show Design collaboration, the Apex HS Marching Band
2007 had it most successful season, winning over 27 awards
spanning 5 competitions."

"Our band just finished up our first marching
season with Mr. Kelsey as our arranger, and it certainly won't be our last.
The arrangements that he gave us challenged my students
as technical players and expressive musicians alike, and at the same time
were attainable enough that my kids found great success throughout their
performance season. The most exciting part for students and staff alike was
how the music made us "sound like a marching band",
and made our small ensemble of 29 horns sound much bigger and thicker than
we actually were.
My kids kept telling me that their show sounded like
drum corp music, and every where we went we were met with similar comments
about how our musical score sounded very current and up-to-date with the
current trends in our activity.
I could not have been more pleased with the final
musical arrangements that we received, or with how my students found success
and growth from the beginning to the end of their marching season with it,
and I look forward to a long collaborative relationship between Mr. Kelsey
and our band program.
